AcknowledgementHumans are part of nature. Urban development and technology have led to improvement of living conditions but also to a widening gap between us and a natural environment. Bringing back nature / natural elements in our direct living environment has proven signifant positive effects. Its value is just partly possible to be described in monetary terms or cost reductions in e.g. health care. Because urban development (half of the world population lives in an urban environment) and technology proceed autonomous, a deliberate balance must be found by including nature in planning processes. This site has been divided, in one way, in three logical steps: Research
leading to conclusions to base Policy on, which after
implementation becomes practice and preferably a Best Practice.
All three steps are valuable to achieve Best Practices on a significant
scale. Webmaster Ronald van Zon adviced the Dutch Forestry Commission in 2003, 2004 on the topic of Nature and Health, organized in 2005 the conference 'Healthy Green Cities' and is part of the European Taskforce; Forest, trees, human health and wellbeing. Momentarily he works for the RMNO to collect, structure and present Best Practices regarding Nature and Health, and works for Groenforum to structure the content of a new conference november 2006 about the relation between establishment of companies and a natural environment. In his spare time he acts as a nature guide in the city and countryside of Haarlem, the Netherlands. Following people help in developping this site further, in alphabetical
